Susan is an experienced reporter and anchor who has worked both nationally and internationally. She has covered stories while embedded with the United States Army in Haiti, while sailing on the Sea of Galilee in Israel, and while haggling for a camel in Cairo.

In the year 2001, she was a co-host of “National Geographic Today,” a television program that covered news and cultural concerns and was broadcast internationally from the headquarters of National Geographic in Washington, District of Columbia. Her reporting included a piece on the raising of a Civil War submarine in Charleston, a multi-part series in Egypt including Egyptian archaeologist Zahi Hawass, and in-depth interviews with Jane Goodall, a world-renowned conservationist, and Bob Ballard, the person who discovered the Titanic. Her series in Egypt featured Egyptian archaeologist Zahi Hawass.

After moving back to New Orleans in 2002, Susan took a position at the public radio station WWNO and also began working as a freelance reporter for NPR programs such as “Morning Edition,” “All Things Considered,” and other NPR shows. She began working for WGNO-TV as a reporter and anchor on a part-time basis in the year 2003.

The coverage that Susan provided for NPR and WGNO during Hurricane Katrina led to her being hired by CNN to work as the inaugural Correspondent for the network’s Gulf Coast Bureau, which made its debut in New Orleans in 2005. In 2007, she was given the position of CNN Correspondent headquartered in Chicago, after having spent the previous two years reporting on the recovery work across the Gulf. Her reporting for CNN included coverage of all other CNN programs as well as daily live shots for “Anderson Cooper 360.” After leaving CNN in 2009, Susan began working for WGNO-tv in New Orleans in the year 2020, reporting and anchoring on a part-time basis while also attending Loyola University in New Orleans to earn her master’s degree.
