Paulson has been working for the KTVU-FOX 2 News for some time now. He got his start in the industry at Channel 2 KHSL in Chico. It was pure chance that got him started in the weather industry; he just strolled into the station and announced that he wanted to be an intern.
After working as an announcer at KHSL for a period of two years, he moved on to his current position at KFTY in Santa Rosa. He became very knowledgeable about the climate of the Bay Area. El Nino was responsible for the heavy rainfall that occurred in 1982 and 1983. The station reduced its programming and did away with the weather at that time; yet, he continued to work there for a good number of years.
During the 1993–1994 season, he made the switch to being an on-air presenter for the former SportsChannel, where he covered San Jose Sharks hockey. In addition, the team had a fantastic run to the Western Conference Finals during that time. But, despite the fact that the season had come to an end, he longed to be outside again in the fresh air. He was given the chance to begin again, and this time he approached it with a more rational mindset. He returned to the weather industry and joined KMST in Monterey.
Between the rainy seasons of 1994 and 1995, he worked in Monterey, California, for three years before moving on to KPIX-Channel 5 in San Francisco. During that time, he experienced many weather highlights, including being flown in by helicopter when all roads leading into and out of Monterey were flooded.
In addition to that, he participated in a fantastic weather adventure at WBBM-Channel 2 in Chicago. After an additional eight months, I departed to take a position as the Chief Meteorologist at KMGH in Denver. After two and a half years, numerous life events caused me to relocate to California and eventually find employment at KTVU.
