In 1998, Osunsami started contributing reports to World News Tonight with Peter Jennings, especially focusing on covering the southeastern region of the United States. Over the course of his career, he has reported on important weather events, including Hurricane Katrina and the efforts to rebuild after the storm devastated New Orleans. He also covered the 2011 Alabama tornado, which was responsible for the deaths of over 200 people, and more than two dozen hurricanes over the course of the previous decade. In addition, he reported on the search for and eventual capture of Eric Robert Rudolph, who was accused of being a serial bomber; the recount of the presidential election in Florida in the year 2000; and, in 2009, the resignation of South Carolina Governor Mark Sanford and the claims of sexual coercion against megachurch leader Eddie Long.

In August of 2014, when a racially tinged police shooting occurred in Ferguson, Missouri, he was the first network reporter to arrive on the scene. He also led the coverage of the story for the network. In addition, he was a member of the reporting team for ABC News that was awarded the Murrow Prize for its coverage of the riots in Baltimore in 2015 that followed the arrest and death of Freddie Gray. Osunsami has been following the tale of South Carolina’s decision to remove the Confederate battle flag from the statehouse for nearly two decades, and he was the reporter who led the coverage of that decision.

Prior to joining ABC News, Osunsami worked as a reporter for the ABC station KOMO-TV in Seattle, which is located in Washington, and as a reporter and substitute anchor for the NBC affiliate WOOD-TV in Grand Rapids, which is located in Michigan. Both of these positions are located in the United States.
