Following her graduation from the University of North Texas in August 2016 with a Bachelor of Arts in Radio Television Film and Minors in Music and Communication, Shannon became a member of the KTTC team in the roles of weekend anchor, producer, and reporter.
During her time at UNT, Shannon had positions at North Texas Television (her university station) including those of news anchor, producer, and reporter. During her time there, she covered a rally for Marco Rubio’s presidential campaign in Dallas and conducted an interview with Bobbie McFerrin, who had previously won a Grammy. In addition, she was a co-anchor on a broadcast that won a Texas Emmy and gave live coverage of the Texas gubernatorial election between Greg Abbott and Wendy Davis. The program was hosted in Texas.
Prior to relocating to the state of North Star, Shannon completed internships with both CBS 11 in Fort Worth and WFAA in Dallas. During her time at the latter station, she contributed to the coverage of a mass shooting that occurred in Dallas in July of 2016, which resulted in the deaths of five police officers. Both Barack Obama and George W. Bush went into town a few days later to deliver speeches to the families of the victims and other law enforcement professionals. It was during her time at WFAA that she developed a passion for both reporting the news and telling stories.
Since she moved there about three years ago, Shannon has called Rochester, Minnesota her home. She is the go-to fill-in anchor and producer for weeknight shows at KTTC-TV, where she also works as a reporter three days a week, in addition to hosting and producing weekend newscasts and weeknight shows.
