She was hired to succeed Roz Abrams. In 2003, Abrams left WABC to assume his position as the evening anchor for WCBS-5 TV’s and 11 o’clock newscasts.

On July 23, 2004, as Baderinwa was compiling a report on a place in Hackensack, New Jersey about local floods, she was struck by a motorist who then fled the scene without stopping. She endured many procedures. After several months of recuperation and undergoing physical therapy, she eventually went back to work at Eyewitness News on December 13, 2004. This was her first appearance on the show.

Baderinwa replaced Liz Cho as the co-anchor of the 11 o’clock news alongside Bill Ritter. Cho had previously held that position but moved on to become the anchor of the new WABC 4 o’clock broadcast. She Baderinwa will still be the news anchor for both the 5 p.m. and 11 p.m. broadcasts.
