For a longer period of time than any other individual telecasters in the area, Corroded has worked as an understudy of climate science. His career in broadcasting had its start when he was a radio host in his old neighborhood back in Victoria, Texas when he was in secondary school.
After working in radio broadcasts from Victoria to Corpus Christi for ten years, Rusty gave up his TV career and has since been the head of climate offices in Longview/Tyler, Lufkin/Nacogdoches, and now – Central Texas – for almost 30 years! Because of his contributions to various people groups, Corroded has become maybe the most well-known and widely accepted character in that area.
He has served both the United Way and the American Red Cross quite capably on the senior management staff of those organizations. Over the course of more than a quarter of a century, he has enthusiastically established Project Tornado, a 16-province school climate security initiative, and is inconsistently engaged in speaking with a large number of children all across school regions all over the world.
Every year, he steps in to serve as the neighborhood Chairman for the “Toys for Tots” Christmas drive organized by the United States Marine Corps. Within the Masonic cabal, Corroded is often regarded as one of the most energetic members. In September 2017, he was honored by the Scottish Rite Supreme Council by receiving the 33rd degree, which is the highest degree available.
In 2007, Rusty was presented to The Grand Lodge of Texas as a candidate for the position of District Deputy Grand Master. He served as Master of the Fidelis Masonic Lodge #1127 in Waco and has since stepped down. Anyone who has seen him on News 10 can see that he has a lot of affection for the community, particularly the children there and that he has a responsibility to help them.
