It wasn’t until 2003 that she started working as a journalist for 3TV; at the time, it was only her second on-camera job after her big reveal in Amarillo, Texas.
Beginning in 2009, she worked for Fox5Vegas for a total of six years, during which time she made Las Vegas her permanent residence. She began her career working in the background at “Great Day LA,” and it was there that she first became enamored with the breakneck pace of the news industry.
She discovered “her kin” – the curious and the extroverted – while working her way up from an intern assistant position to a full-time position in the newspaper. With the conclusion of Olivia’s Book Club in January 2019, a lifelong passion for reading was finally able to be put to use in the shape of a professional endeavor.
In 2021, she expanded the brand by conducting a weekly web recording in which she interviewed highly regarded authors about their writing careers and the books they had published. She is expanding her role in the local book community by hosting events for Changing Hands Bookstore, which take place in person and online.
She devotes her time and effort to local charitable organizations on a regular basis, either as a worker or as an event host, because she is convinced of the importance of local news for bringing people together and enhancing our sense of belonging to the community.
Chicanos for la Causa, March of Dimes, Dress for Success, Valley of the Sun United Way, and Girls On the Run are some of the organizations with whom she has a close working relationship.
