He worked as a freelance journalist and completed internships at NBC Connecticut and WTAJ News in Altoona, Pennsylvania respectively. He had the opportunity to serve as the head of communications for the Campus Weather Service while he was a student at Penn State. The Campus Weather Service is the nation’s biggest and oldest student-run forecasting and broadcasting organization. In this location, Bergren oversaw the effort to completely revamp the broadcast graphics system used by the Campus Weather Service. He also appeared on The Weather Channel’s coverage of storms in Central Pennsylvania while he was working in this location.
