Monica’s early years were marked by the beginning of a lifelong fascination with storytelling. During the break, when other children were playing four square, she was regaling her fellow second-graders with tales of ghosts and apparitions.
They need to elicit strong emotions and move people with her stories of what is happening in the world today. Monica is a general task correspondent for the morning show during the week, and she lands “Great Morning Arizona” at the conclusion of the week.
Her journey to join Arizona’s Family started in the nation’s capital, at a member station of the NBC network called WRC. There, she served as a collaborator in the creation process as well as an essayist. She provided assistance to the field in 2008, when Pope Benedict XVI made his first trip to Washington, D.C.
Since that time, some of the high-profile stories she has covered since then include the Orlando Nightclub Shooting, the attack on the Disney Gator, Hurricane Irma in Florida, and Hurricane Florence in North Carolina.
During Hurricane Florence, Monica and her photographic artist were working on a video shoot in an area that was being impacted by floods. The location was near to the downtown area of Lumberton, North Carolina. They heard a whimper for assistance. At that point, they became aware of a man who was raising a T-shirt in the air and waving it around.
They brought in salvage teams that were gearing up for the afternoon and dealt with the salvage of three men who had been left abandoned in their homes. In addition, Monica spent the days following the Camp Fire in California engaging in conversation with others and relating the experiences of those who were seeking refuge at departure covers.
