Mike Susko FOX 56 News
Susko joined Fox 56 as a chief meteorologist in September 2022.
Mike was a member of the NWA Weather Authority group and served as the new end-of-week meteorologist. Storms, cyclone warnings, blizzards, cold snaps with temperatures close to or below nothing, heat waves with temperatures exceeding 100 degrees, hurricanes, and typhoons, as well as flash flooding.
And this continued till they understood. When he was a kid, he used to stand by the window for an extended period of time in order to watch the clouds and storms roll in. When he was in kindergarten, the teacher conducted an activity in which the class discussed their hopes and dreams for the future.
Mike is able to recall asking her how to correctly spell meteorologist at some point. In 2012, the areas of southeastern Pennsylvania, the Jersey Shore, and New York were impacted by Superstorm Sandy.
He remembers watching the nonstop coverage for a considerable amount of time from the meteorologists in the area of Philadelphia as well as on The Weather Channel. Although the damage caused by the storm was significant and astonishing, the reaction of Mike’s loved ones was what really caught his attention in the aftermath of the event.
In spite of the fact that everyone had been warned by meteorologists, news stations, and government agencies days in advance about how severe the storm would be, a great number of people were discovered sleeping when the power of the storm struck.
It was at this point that he made the decision to pursue a career in climate correspondence in order to assist in the preparation of his family, friends, and local community for the effects of extreme climate change.
During his time at Penn State, he participated in the Campus Weather Service and served as the association’s Head of Communications. He was also a member of the student-run productions “Not yet decided” and “Climate Or Not,” and he worked as a chief/illustrations maker and live host on the division’s weeknight climate show “Climate World.”
In addition to that, Mike worked as an intern in the Department of meteorology at FOX29 Philadelphia, where he was mentored by Meteorologists Kathy Orr, Scott Williams, Sue Serio, and Jeff Robbins.
When Mother Nature is calm and we get one of those beautiful sunny days, he adores appreciating the great outdoors by going on a hike, swimming, going on a walk, scuba diving, or cooking something on the barbecue.
