Lauren Westbrook KWTX News

Lauren began her career in the telecommunications industry in Central Texas working as a journalist. In 2011, Lauren accepted a morning anchor position at WAFB in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and not long after she arrived, she began mooring the station’s early afternoon show. This occurred not long after she arrived. Her groups were given Emmy assignments, came out ahead of the rest of the competition, and received funding from the Associated Press, and the Louisiana Association of Broadcasters respected them.

In 2016, Lauren helped to ensure that WAFB would include a fatal police shooting, which ultimately led to the station winning an Edward R. Murrow Award. After a month of unprecedented floods, many people lost their lives and a considerable number of homes and businesses were destroyed in the city of Baton Rouge. As the floodwaters receded over the course of several days, Lauren did not leave the anchor work area, remaining there for extended periods of time at a time.

Because of the devastation, residents of Louisiana named Randy Jackson and Harry Connick, Jr. joined forces with Lauren to host a show that was broadcast nationally in order to collect money for people whose jobs were destroyed in the hurricane. She has a deep appreciation for athletics and has expressed her happiness at having covered the LSU Tigers’ National Championship victory in New Orleans.

In addition, she was a co-organizer of the victory march that went through Baton Rouge and spread around the state. By the middle of the year 2020, Lauren had earned the title of the first Young Professional of the Year from the Louisiana Association of Broadcasters. She has helped generate a significant amount of money for disadvantaged children through her work with the Boys & Girls Club, something she is very passionate about.
