At the beginning of her career, Kristen worked as a reporter for the university radio station KALX while also interning at practically every television station in the Bay region. During the Loma Prieta earthquake, she experienced her heightened awareness for the first time. She had just crossed the Bay Bridge an hour before it partially collapsed while she was driving across it.
