Kristen Shaughnessy Age

She is around 51 years old. Her date of birth has not yet been revealed but will be updated as soon as it is available.

Kristen Shaughnessy Husband

Pine Bush residents John Shaughnessy and Alice Shaughnessy have a daughter named Kristen. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications from Hofstra University in the year 1990. She is married to Joe Bush, a golfer who competes professionally. She has family in the southwest of Ireland, and they have been there since the middle of the 19th century. The couple has been given the gift of two beautiful children named Jamie and Kara.

Because her husband is a golf pro, they alternate their work hours in order to ensure that at least one of them is always available to care for their two daughters. They have babysitters who are also able to help them out on days when their schedules clash. Due to the fact that Kristen works the early morning shift, she must rise and shine at either 2:30 or 3:30 in the morning, depending on whether or not she is anchoring or reporting.

Kristen Shaughnessy NY1

Kristen is there to share the news with the people of New York. Since 1995, she has worked for NY1 as a breaking news reporter and weekend anchor for the station. She started her career in radio and later moved on to a television station in upstate New York before landing a job at NY1. Ironically, she did not have a television in the home where she grew up. Reading became more appealing to her mother and father once the television in their home stopped working.

Shaughnessy was one of the first reporters to arrive at the scene of the attack on the World Trade Center that took place on September 11, 2001. She came prior to the collapse of the first tower. She was unable to contact the studio via her mobile phone, so she tracked down the closest payphone in order to make the call. She had to hang up the phone in the middle of the discussion in order to get away from the crumbling skyscraper in time.

Kristen Shaughnessy Gender discrimination

In June of 2019, a group of five women, including Kristen, filed a lawsuit in New York City against their employer, NY1, and Charter Communications, alleging that they were subjected to age and gender discrimination. On June 19, 2019, Kristen and four other reporters from NY1 named in the case are Roma Torre, Vivian Lee, Amanda Farinacci, and Janine Ramirez. The action was filed in the court for the Southern District of New York. On the very same day, they released an unified open letter in which they detailed all of their complaints.

They call themselves “Unseen Ladies on TV,” and they are a group of female anchors that are battling age discrimination in the newsroom. The five women have come together to form this group.

When Charter Communications combined with Time Warner Cable in 2016, it became the owner of NY1, a local news channel serving New York City. NY1 is owned by Charter Communications. According to the allegations made in the lawsuit, the merger resulted in a significant number of layoffs: “about 40 long-time, elderly NY1 employees over the age of 40 were forced out,”7 while the layoffs scarcely impacted younger staff. Although the Plaintiffs were not affected by this round of layoffs, they have since been required to perform their jobs in an atmosphere that has become extremely hostile.

The plaintiffs continue their case by claiming that executives are “grooming actual “replacements” that track each of the Plaintiffs’ respective appearances and ethnic origins.” [Citation needed] “By way of illustration, while Ms. Shaughnessy is being sidelined, Ms. Driscoll, who is also 36 years old and blonde, has risen in the ranks, including being granted a position as a daytime daily anchor,”

Despite her long experience at NY1 and the many honors she has received, Kristen has seen a drop in the amount of airtime she receives. In addition, the lawsuit asserts that she was recently “demoted” to the reporting position with the lowest level of responsibility.

Kristen Shaughnessy Awards

Kristen has been honored with a great number of accolades. In 2016, she was recognized by Irish America as a member of its First Class of Top 50 Power Women in America. This is only one of her many accolades. In addition to this, the Irish Voice ranked her as one of the Top 30 Media, and she has been included on Irish America’s list of the Top 100 in America on two separate occasions.
