Karen was honored with a “Heart and Soul Award” from Macy’s in recognition of her efforts in the fight against breast cancer in the same year that she served as Honorary Co-Chair for the Komen Dallas Race for the Cure in the year 2000. In 2005, she was honored with the “Commitment to the Cure” award, which was given out for the first time. In addition, Karen works as a volunteer with the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) in both the Dallas and the Greater Fort Worth-Arlington areas whenever it is possible for her to do so. Reading, playing tennis, and spending quality time with her family are some of Karen’s favorite things to do when she’s not volunteering her time as a volleyball mom and cheering on her daughter’s team.
