As a Breaking News Desk Anchor, Tomazic is employed by WPXI (channel 11), which is located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. In May of 2013, she became a member of the team at Channel 11 and began working as a reporter. Jennifer moved “south” from Milwaukee and now wishes that the winters in Pittsburgh were a little bit warmer. She is aware that Milwaukee and Pittsburgh receive significantly less snow than Cleveland, the city in which she was born, raised, and attended high school, where she developed a passion for telling stories.
Jennifer attended Ohio University, where she earned a degree in journalism from the E. W. Scripps School of Journalism. During her time there, she wore a variety of hats at the school television station known as WOUB. Her first real job was in nearby Parkersburg, West Virginia, where she gained valuable work experience. At WTAP, Jennifer worked both as a producer and as a morning and afternoon anchor. Her journey then led her to the warmer climes of Columbia, South Carolina, where she worked at WLTX as the weekend anchor and as a reporter for Crime Stopper.
However, the mild winters only lasted for a few years before Jennifer returned to her real life and started working at WDJT in Milwaukee. There, she began as a weekend reporter and eventually became an anchor for the morning and afternoon newscasts. In addition, she did weekly documentation for her show “Making Milwaukee Great,” in which she showcased individuals and organizations that were contributing to the city’s improvement. It was during those recording sessions that she made the acquaintance of the person who made it possible for her to become involved in the community. Both Girls on the Run and the Milwaukee Animal Rescue Center benefited from Jennifer’s time as a volunteer coach and participant. She is confident that similar organizations will be available for involvement in the Pittsburgh area.
In addition to winning accolades from the Wisconsin Broadcasters Association for breaking news reporting and feature writing, Jennifer has been nominated for an Emmy in the Southeast Regional category for her anchoring. She is a runner and skier in her spare time, and she can’t wait to hit the slopes in Western Pennsylvania for the first time. Jennifer is happily married to Jason, and she adores spending time at home with her two pets, Bailey and Nessie.
