WCCO-TV in Minneapolis was where Matheson got his start in the television industry. He began his career as a night dispatcher, working the short-term shift at the end of the work week. Within a short period of time, he was promoted to the position of associate task editorial manager, and shortly after that, he was given the responsibility of proofreading the end-of-the-week assignments.
Matheson arrived to KMSP-TV in the spring of 2000 to take over as the head producer of “The Buzz.” “The Buzz” was a daily entertainment segment that aired for a very long time and was extremely well known.
