In August of 2002, he became a member of the Action 7 News staff. He was a reporter and fill-in anchor for the Los Angeles television station KCAL-TV before he started working for Action 7 News. His previous employment included stints at radio stations in the cities of Shreveport, Louisiana; Dallas, Texas; Fresno, California; Anniston, Alabama; and Jackson, Tennessee.

Doug, a seasoned broadcast journalist, has covered a diverse range of stories for Action 7 News over the course of his career. He was the only TV anchor in New Mexico to provide live coverage of the Democratic National Convention in 2004 and 2008, the Republican National Convention in 2004 and 2008, and the grand opening of the National Museum of the American Indian in Washington, D.C. This was in keeping with Action 7 News’ commitment to coverage, and he was the only New Mexico TV anchor to do so.

Doug has also traveled to southeast Texas to cover the Shuttle Columbia accident and the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. In addition, during the summer of 2003, Doug covered bosque fires for more than 16 hours over the course of three days while he was on the air.
