Ford is a reporter for CBS News Bay Area, KPIX 5, where she serves in the capacity of MMJ. In 2011, he accepted a position as a Multimedia Journalist (MMJ) at KPIX 5. Because Don films, writes, and edits all of his own stories, he has an incredible amount of flexibility when it comes to reporting tales all around the state of California.

While attending Del Mar College, Don began his thirty-year career in television at KZTV in Corpus Christi, Texas. Don is now a professor at Del Mar College. There, he worked as a “One Man Band,” performing the duties of both a reporter and a photographer. Don is an adventurous person, therefore he quit his job and moved to Venezuela for a period of two years. He worked with Reynolds Aluminum Montaplan as a Photographer and Writer during his time there. Upon his return to the United States, he found work at KXTV and KOVR in Sacramento, followed by KRON, before moving on to KPIX 5, a station that is owned and run by CBS and which he joined in 2001.

Don is responsible for both reporting and photography in addition to his other duties. He is the sole recipient of honors bestowed by the Northern California Bay Area Press Photographers Association across the board in each and every category. He has been nominated for around 20 Emmys, and he has won four of the regional awards. Don was a member of a team that won a National Emmy Award in September 2010 for their Breaking News reportage of the Oakland Riots following the shooting of Oscar Grant by BART Police. The riots followed the shooting of Oscar Grant by BART Police.

One of his Emmys was awarded to him for his exceptional reporting of shark diving off the coast of San Diego, during which one of the sharks tried to go into the cage with Don and the rest of his crew. Don is an Advanced Certified Scuba Diver. In addition to this, Don reported on the civil war between the Contras and the Sandinistas in Nicaragua, the devastation caused by Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans, and the beginning of the first Gulf War in the Middle East. Because he never shies away from a challenge, he was the first photographer to enter the explosion crater at the San Bruno Pipeline while it was still burning.

Don is an experienced sailor and a huge fan of being outside. He competes in sailing competitions on the bay, and on many weekends you can find him working as a strategist on a J24 or as crew on a Santa Cruz 50. In addition to that, he gives back to the community by acting as an assistant Scoutmaster for a large East Bay Troop in his spare time.
