During his employment at WIS, he traveled in pursuit of a number of significant hurricanes that made landfall in Palmetto State, including Hurricanes Irma (2017), Dorian (2019), Florence (2018), and Michael (2018). He was also responsible for monitoring a number of severe storms, one of which was the deadly tornado outbreak that occurred on April 13, 2020, in Orangeburg, South Carolina.

During the Total Solar Eclipse that occurred in August 2017, Dominic led spectators through the event as the moon’s shadow passed directly over Columbia, South Carolina. In 2008, he got his start in the industry at WCTI-TV in New Bern, North Carolina. After that, he worked for WTKR-TV in Norfolk, Virginia, for a period of five years. It’s incredible that he was the first black person to hold the position of meteorologist at each of those stations. Dominic is a member of the National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ), in addition to being an associate with the Hampton Roads Black Media Professionals (HRBMP) and a former president of that organization. In addition to that, he is an active member of the American Meteorological Society (AMS) and the National Weather Association (NWA). Dominic, in point of fact, was awarded the AMS Television Seal of Approval (#1833) in the year 2010. The following year, in 2021, he was promoted to the position of Certified Broadcast Meteorologist (#878). He was awarded the American Meteorological Society’s Certified Broadcast Meteorologist (CBM) designation in March 2021, which is awarded to broadcast meteorologists who meet specified criteria for scientific competence and effective communication skills in their weather presentations.

Additionally, the South Carolina Broadcasters Association (SCBA) honored him by bestowing upon him their 2018 Television Weathercaster of the Year Award of Merit. The following year, Dominic won the title for 2019 TV Weathercaster of the Year (TV I Division) from RTDNAC (the Radio Television Digital News Association of the Carolinas). He placed in second place overall. He was given the Excellence in Market Award (EMMA) for Best Weather Anchor in the Southeast in the year 2020. During the same month, the RTDNAC presented him and his weather family with a second-place award for a news program that they produced commemorating the 30th anniversary of Hurricane Hugo. In the next two years, 2021 and 2022, Columbia Metropolitan Magazine’s Best of Columbia competition put Dominic in the running for the title of Best TV Weatherperson.
