On the eve of the New Year in 1997, Deirdre made the move to KCRA from KCCI-TV in Des Moines, Iowa. She started out as a weekend morning anchor and repeatedly passed up opportunities to work as a weekday morning anchor because she couldn’t fathom “getting up that mid-5 day every week vs only two.” She started out as a weekend morning anchor. After having anchored in the mornings since the year 2000, she finds it amusingly difficult to conceive of herself being able to stay awake to read so that anyone can hear at 11 p.m.
