Tim Lewis is the only one of Dan’s three children to attend broadcasting school, making him the youngest of Dan’s three children. Between the years 2004 and 2006, he worked as a weekend sports anchor for KIMA 29 – KEPR 19 in the Yakima/Tri-Cities area. Tim was also a weekend sports anchor for KREM 2 in Spokane from September 2006 to December 2008, and then he was the sports director for that station from January 2009 until May 2012; Dan’s coworker Eric Johnson held that position from 1987 through 1989.
Between the months of May 2012 and June 2016, Tim worked for KOMO-TV as the weekend sports anchor and as a weekday reporter. Goertzen had been battling these meningiomas for some time.
On October 1, 2007, KOMO honored Dan Lewis for his 20 years of service to the company. Along with scores of other career highlights, his first newscast with KOMO, which was broadcast on September 21, 1987, was included in a tribute that lasted for five minutes and was broadcast by KOMO to celebrate his career. His stay in Seattle is the fourth-longest on record at 27 years. Through their nearly 25 years of service as nightly news anchors at KOMO, Dan and Goertzen established themselves as one of the nation’s most successful and longest-running anchor teams.
On May 21, 2014, Dan stepped down from his role as an anchor, however he will continue to make occasional appearances for a variety of projects.
