Stevens started working for NBC NEWS in 1987. He was a sophomore working all day in the NBC newsroom on election night in 1988. He collaborated creatively on “Today,” “Meet the Press,” and “NBC Nightly News with Tom Brokaw.”
He worked as a columnist and fill-in anchor at WBBH-TV, the NBC affiliate in Fort Myers, from 1990 until 1992. To anchor the end-of-week news at NBC partner WHDH in Boston, Stevens briefly departed us in 1997, but his performance there was highlighted here.
