In 1982, Bury began his career in journalism by joining ABC News as a general assignment journalist headquartered in Chicago. Since he began working for the late-night news program “Nightline” in January 1993, he served as a correspondent there for a significant amount of time. He served as the anchor for “Up Close” from June 2002 till January 2003. In September of 2003, Bury reported for and served as the anchor of “Nightline” from Afghanistan.
