When Busby was a little boy living in Cleveland, Ohio, he first developed an interest in the weather. When he started paying attention to the forecast, he realized that he like watching television. During his time as a secondary school student, he worked as a weathercaster for two radio stations situated in the Cleveland area. After some time had passed, he graduated from St. Louis University with a degree in meteorology.
He began his professional life as a meteorologist when he was only 17 years old. After working for the station for eight weeks, he finally made his broadcasting debut as the Saturday and Sunday climatologist. Before coming to work for KMBC 9 NEWS, Busby had been a resident of St. Louis for a total of eight decades. He claims that he will continue to forecast the weather on television until the job is no longer enjoyable to him.
His acting skills are not just confined to the small screen. In his professional life, he plays the timpani with the Kinnor Philharmonic, where he holds the position of principal timpanist. Prior to that, he was the solo timpanist with the Independence Messiah Festival Orchestra. He participated in the annual performance of the Messiah that was put on by that orchestra at the Community of Christ Auditorium from the year 1992 to 2005, which was the orchestra’s last year of existence. At Sandstone Amphitheater, he gave a performance not only with the Kansas City Symphony but also with the Kansas City Percussion Quartet. He also performed with the Moody Blues.
