Hurricane Katrina, which occurred in New Orleans, Louisiana, sparked Brooke’s interest in atmospheric science when she was in the fifth grade. Brook is now working toward acquiring a famous American Meteorological Society Certified Broadcast Meteorology Seal. Her primary area of study is Operational Meteorology, and she also has a degree in Communication.
Before she interned in Washington, DC, she had an internship throughout her undergraduate studies in New Orleans, Louisiana. Brooke received her training at the national level from Ginger Zee, who is also the Chief Meteorologist for ABC News. Brooke shadowed Zee’s forecasting for Good Morning America. Brooke had a wonderful time during her off-campus Great Plains Storm Chasing Elective, in which she followed storms throughout a number of states in the Midwestern United States. She also had a wonderful time during her Disaster Survey Course on San Salvador Island in the Bahamas.
Brooke started her career in the broadcasting industry right away and is currently serving Jackson, Mississippi, in addition to Augusta, Georgia, and Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. During the Spring 2017 semester, she was also awarded the title of Best College Weathercast by the Louisiana and Mississippi Associated Press. When she is not at work, she enjoys going on trips and cheering for the Mississippi State Bulldogs, the New Orleans Pelicans on basketball, and the New Orleans Saints on football. She also follows the athletics at Mississippi State University.
