Before joining KC, he worked as a reporter for WDAY in North Dakota, where he covered stories from the frequently frigid tundra of Fargo, and he was the principal anchor for WDAZ in Grand Forks. He attended Western Michigan University, from where he received a degree in Journalism after completing his studies there. When he is not working, you can find him on the golf course or cheering on the Michigan Wolverines at Michigan Stadium during the autumn football season.
