“It’s never easy to say goodbye to a family member, and it’s much more sad to lose an icon,” said Jerry Martin, Vice President and General Manager of KPRC 2 Television Station. “Bill capitalized the “J” in journalism for our newsroom over his more than 35 years spent working at the anchor desk. It is only fair that he should retire at the top of his game, as both of our evening newscasts, the one at 6 pm and the one at 10 pm, have led the market since 2017.”

When Bill retires in January 2019, he will have spent the previous 39 years serving as the evening news anchor for KPRC (Channel 2), and he is ready to do absolutely nothing.

Bill, who was born and raised in San Antonio, started working for KPRC 2 News in August of 1980 as a reporter and anchor. In 1990, he succeeded Ron Stone as the station’s primary anchor. During his time at KPRC 2, he has shared the anchor desk with well-known journalists such as Paula Zahn, Jan Carson, and Linda Lorelle, in addition to his current co-anchor Dominique Sachse, who has been with the station since 2001.
