In April 1976, Ann relocated to Los Angeles to begin working as a reporter for KABC-TV. She started serving as a co-anchor on Saturday episodes of Eyewitness News. In the fall of 1980, KABC increased the length of its weekday newscast to three hours, and Ann began co-anchoring the 5 p.m. hour with Paul Moyer. The on-air relationship lasted for over 12 years until Moyer joined rival KNBC-TV in 1992.

Martin also briefly hosted a number of the station’s regional shows, including 3-3-0 and A.M. Los Angeles, during her time there. She served as a stand-in host for Good Morning America on ABC.

Martin would eventually be reunited with her other former coworkers. Along with co-hosting Beyond Belief – Amazing True Stories! for the CBS network while at KCBS, Martin also briefly served as the anchor of the broadcast Women 2 Women, which focused on women.

On April 1, 2008, Ann received word that her contract wouldn’t be renewed. According to rumors in the media, her contract ended on June 1, 2008. She and Greene were now hosting the 4 p.m. news on KCAL and the 6 p.m. news on KCBS, respectively. Although Ann herself remained silent, CBS announced that both had decided to retire through a press representative.
