Anderson Cooper Biography
Anderson Cooper is a well-known American broadcast journalist who currently works for CNN, where he is employed as an Anchor and Reporter for the network’s Political Commentary program. Since 2001, he has been a member of the staff of this station.
Cooper had his formal education on the Upper East Side of Manhattan at the prestigious private coeducational day school known as the Dalton School. Cooper left for a “survival trip” around Africa when he was 17 years old, having graduated from Dalton High School a semester early. He spent many months there. During the journey, he became sick with malaria and had to be hospitalized in Kenya. In his account of the journey, author and adventurer Jonathan Cooper remarked that “Africa was a place to forget and be forgotten in.” Cooper was a student at Yale University, and he lived in Trumbull College throughout his time there. After completing his studies at the university with a focus on political science and earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1989, he was inducted into the Manuscript Society.
Cooper majored in political science at the University of Virginia, where he spent two summers working as an intern at the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA). He sought a career in journalism despite being without any academic degree in journalism. According to his own admission, he has been an avid consumer of news even while he was still in the womb. After completing his first piece of correspondence work in the early 1990s, he took a vacation from reporting and moved to Vietnam, where he remained for an entire year. During that time, he attended Vietnam National University in Hanoi to study the Vietnamese language.

In 1994, he came to the realization that he had gradually become hardened to the violence he was witnessing around him; the horrors of the Rwandan genocide became inconsequential: “I would see a dozen bodies and think, you know, it’s a dozen, it’s not so bad” after having been on such missions for a couple of years. This was after he had been on such duties for a couple of years.
Planet in Peril documentary
In October 2007, CNN gave Cooper the hosting duties for the documentary titled “Planet in Peril,” which also starred Jeff Corwin and Sanjay Gupta. In 2008, National Geographic Explorer’s Cooper, Lisa Ling, and Gupta collaborated on a follow-up documentary titled Planet in Peril: Battle Lines, which had its world premiere in December of that same year.

In September of 2010, CNN’s corporate siblings Warner Bros. and Telepictures made the announcement that Anderson Cooper had signed a contract to host a chat show that would be syndicated nationally. Cooper, who was involved in the negotiations over the talk show deal, recently inked a new multi-year contract with CNN to maintain his role as the host of Anderson Cooper 360°. It was announced that Anderson Live would come to an end on October 29, 2012, following the completion of its second season. 2016 presidential debates
Cooper, along with Martha Raddatz, served as the debate moderator for the second presidential election debate between Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton. He broke new ground by moderating a presidential debate during the general election as the first openly gay person to do so.

On September 8, 2003, Cooper started his role as host of the Anderson Cooper 360° program on CNN.He negotiated a multi-year deal with CNN that would allow him to remain as a contributor to 60 Minutes. As part of the deal, CNN would increase his income from $2 million per year to a reported $4 million in 2007. He also had the opportunity to continue his role as a contributor to 60 Minutes.Cooper was responsible for reporting on a number of significant events, such as the Cedar Revolution in Beirut, Lebanon; the destruction caused by the tsunami in Sri Lanka; the royal wedding of Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles; and the death of Pope John Paul II. In August of 2005, he also reported on the starvation that was occurring in Niger from Maradi.
To better cover the exceptionally intense hurricane season that began in September 2005, CNN’s NewsNight was expanded from its previous structure of 60 minutes to its current version of 120 minutes. Cooper was provisionally given the role of co-anchor alongside Aaron Brown in order to assist in the distribution of some of the increasing workloads. In the same month, it was rumored that the arrangement had been made permanent by Jonathan Klein, the president of CNN’s U.S. operations. Klein has named Cooper “the anchorperson of the future” in the past. On November 2, 2005, Klein made the announcement that there will be a significant shakeup in the programming.

Cooper, who was born and lived in the United States, was the younger son of author Wyatt Emory Cooper and artist Gloria Vanderbilt. He was born in Manhattan, which is located in the city of New York. Carter Vanderbilt Cooper, Cooper’s older brother, committed himself on July 22, 1988, at the age of 23, by jumping from the terrace of his family’s New York City penthouse apartment located on the 14th floor. Cooper was just 21 years old at the time. Later, Gloria Vanderbilt discussed the passing of her son in the book A Mother’s Story.
