Aaron Mentkowski is an American meteorologist who holds a certification and currently works as the Chief Meteorologist for WKBW, 7 Eyewitness News in Buffalo, New York. Since March of the year 2000, he has been employed with this station.
Aaron attended North Tonawanda High School, from where he ultimately received his diploma, as part of his educational pursuits. After that, he continued his education by enrolling in the State University of New York College at Oswego, where he received his Bachelor of Science degree in Meteorology and studied Lake Effect Snow patterns.

It is a great honor for Aaron to have been recognized by the North Tonawanda High School and included on the school’s Wall of Fame in 2006. In addition to that, the publication Buffalo’s Art Voice named him the city’s Best Local Weatherman. Aaron was a guest on “LIVE with Regis and Kelly” in January 2009, where he discussed the snow that had recently fallen in Buffalo. In addition to that, he provides live weather reports every afternoon for both WYRK 106.5FM and WJYE 96.1FM.
The native of Lockport was born in North Tonawanda and spent his childhood there. For as long as he can remember, he has had an intense interest in the weather. He experienced his fair share of snow storms while he was growing up in Western New York, and it was his fascination with the weather that ultimately led him to pursue a career in meteorology.
Aaron obtained experience in broadcasting while working in the cities of Fort Myers, Florida, and Macon, Georgia, before moving back to Buffalo. Additionally, he has provided his weather expertise to radio stations and ski resorts across the continent of North America. Aaron is a First Degree Black Belt in Kenpo Karate and plays ice hockey and soccer in his spare time. He also has a passion for the martial art.
